We’ve all had massages at least once in our lifetime, but have you ever wonder where this technique came from and how quickly it has become one of the most influential alternative healthcare profession in the world?
According to Wikipedia, massage is a type of body work that uses different kind of techniques applied by the massage therapist’s hands, fingers, forearms, elbows, knees, feet, or a device to provide pressure.
Traditionally and in the modern age, massage therapy is mainly promoted for relieving stress or pain.
Although not limited, massage is usually done on different settings. You could be receiving or performing a massage treatment on a bed, chair or floor.
In a professional setting, the clients would receive a treatment by lying on a massage table, sitting in a massage chair, or lying on a mat on the floor. Some may even perform aquatic massage by submerging their bodies in warm water.

According to archaeological evidence, the origin of massage can be traced back to the ancient civilizations such as China, India, Japan, Korea, Egypt, Rome, Greece and Mesopotamia.
